Location: Auckland & Christchurch

Working Hours:

  • Minimum of 40 hours per week.
  • Multiple shifts, we operate 24/7 Monday to Friday.
  • Hourly rate, $27 - $31 dependent on experience.

In this role you will be responsible for:

MHE Operation:

  • Hold valid license and endorsement and able to pass Cardinal’s safety and skill assessment.
  • Safely operate a counterbalance, reach forklift or designated MHEs to move stock within the warehouse.
  • Stack and organise items on pallets and putaway on racking according to the designated storage areas.
  • Ensure proper stacking and securing of goods to prevent damage during movement.
  • Ensure that freight is loaded and unloaded in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with OSH and Land Transport regulations.
  • Efficient turn-a-round of vehicles by prompt loading and unloading.
  • Nil fines due to improper loading.

Inventory Management:

  • Assist in inventory counting and reconciliation by accurately recording product movements.
  • Collaborate with inventory team and supervisor to locate and retrieve products for orders.
  • Ensure that freight and documentation are checked into store, all freight leaves the depot must be manifested.

Product Handling:

  • Handle products with care to prevent damage or breakage during movement.
  • Follow proper procedures for handling fragile or hazardous materials.
  • Ensure that freight is loaded and unloaded in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with OSH and Land Transport regulations. (handling focus)
  • Over/under and damages accurately dealt with and recorded.
  • Freight is placed in the appropriate bays.

Communication:

  • Communicate effectively with warehouse and dispatch teams to coordinate tasks.
  • Communicate to manager any urgent or special deliveries.
  • Report any inventory discrepancies or issues during forklift operations.
  • Report all possible delivery delays or issues to manager.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting, recording and investigation of all incidents and hazards.

Equipment Maintenance:

  • Perform routine maintenance checks on all forklifts.
  • Report any maintenance requirements reported to the manager immediately.
  • Report any mechanical issues to the maintenance team for prompt repairs.
  • Ensure forklifts, trucks, and additional company vehicles are treated with respect and used in the manner intended.
  • All consumables ie shrink wrap, knives, tape etc to be used for company purposes.

Efficiency and Productivity:

  • Work efficiently to meet daily operational goals and deadlines.
  • Optimise the use of warehouse and transport spaces by organising and stacking products strategically.
  • Efficient turn-a-round of vehicles by prompt loading and unloading.
  • Undertake additional tasks and responsibilities as and when requested.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working within logistics industry.
  • Have license and endorsement to operate reach forklift, aisle master unit, counterbalance truck, pallet runner, vertical order picker and/or other MHEs that normally used in warehouse.
  • Freight loading experience.
  • Attention to detail and time management.
  • Understanding of warehousing and logistics.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure.

Technical skill requirements:

  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite.
  • To be competent with any systems that Cardinal Logistics are currently using for pick packing orders Be competent with WMS (Multipick) if required.
  • Be competent with FMS (Go Freight) if required.
