We’re looking for an experienced Operations Accountant to join our high-performing Finance team on a 6-month parental leave contract. This is a hands-on, influential role where you’ll deliver accurate financial reporting, ensure compliance, support revenue assurance, and partner closely with both Finance and Operations. You’ll also lead a small team and help drive continuous improvement across systems and processes.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Analyse P&Ls and prepare monthly reporting packs, divisional reports, container P&Ls, labour % reports and cost trackers
- Own month-end processes including journals, accruals, allocations, reconciliations, budgeting support and cashflow assistance
- Support year-end accounts, GST, FBT, compliance reporting and Statistics NZ submissions
- Review weekly revenue, investigate variances, validate quantities, identify billing or coding issues and complete revenue accruals
- Maintain FAF updates and develop enhanced revenue reporting to improve accuracy
- Prepare and review subcontractor reporting, support Payables, manage rate changes, maintain GRI trackers and assess EBITDA impacts
- Lead and mentor the Senior Payables Specialist
- Partner with Finance and Operations to provide clear, actionable financial insights
- Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes and reporting
- Promote Health & Safety by following policies, identifying hazards and supporting corrective actions
What You’ll Bring
Essential:
- Chartered Accountant qualification (CAANZ or equivalent)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a commercial environment
- Strong understanding of NZ IFRS and the NZ tax regime
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- High attention to detail with strong numeracy skills
- Ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Previous leadership or mentoring experience
- Background in financial or management accounting
