Cardinal is looking for a Solutions Architect, Technology and Cybersecurity to help shape and implement the future of our technology environment. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who has developed their career in infrastructure, cloud, networking, systems, or cybersecurity engineering and is ready to take the next step into a broader solution architecture role. If you are  hands-on with solution design and implementation experience, and the drive to grow into a trusted Technology Architect, this role is for you. This role is fully based on site.

What success in this role looks like:

  • Develop a strong understanding of Cardinal’s current technology landscape and help shape its future direction.
  • Translate technology strategy into practical, deliverable solutions and initiatives.
  • Take a hands-on role in designing, building, testing, and implementing technology solutions.
  • Support operational teams by providing technical guidance and resolving complex issues.
  • Ensure solutions are well documented, supportable, and transitioned smoothly into BAU operations.
  • Build strong partnerships across technology, security, compliance, business teams, leadership, customers, and vendors.

What you will do:

  • Help define and maintain Cardinal’s future-state technology and cybersecurity architecture.
  • Develop practical technology roadmaps covering devices, networks, identity, applications, cloud platforms, security, and data.
  • Translate business, operational, and security requirements into clear technical solution designs.
  • Create architecture diagrams, implementation plans, solution building blocks, configuration standards, and supporting documentation.
  • Evaluate  solution options and recommend approaches that balance security, resilience, scalability, supportability, cost, and business value.
  • Take a hands-on role in building, configuring, integrating, testing, and implementing new technology and security solutions.
  • Lead and coordinate technical delivery across infrastructure, cloud, identity, networking, security, and integration initiatives.
  • Embed Zero Trust principles and ISO 27001-aligned controls into solution designs and operational processes.
  • Review vendor, cloud, software, and integration designs to ensure they align with Cardinal’s architectural and security principle.
  • Own the transition of new solutions into BAU, including documentation, knowledge transfer, operational readiness, monitoring, and support processes.
  • Provide technical guidance to engineering and operational teams responsible for maintaining the environment.
  • Assist with complex or escalated technical issues where architectural or advanced engineering input is required.
  • Identify opportunities to automate processes, improve reliability, reduce manual effort, and minimise human error.
  • Clearly communicate technical options, risks, dependencies, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

What you will bring: 

  • Proven experience in a senior technology role across engineering, infrastructure, cloud, networking, security, or operations.
  • Strong background in designing, delivering, and improving technology solutions and platforms.
  • Experience working in complex, business-critical technology environments.
  • Hands-on expertise with Microsoft technologies, including Azure and the broader Microsoft ecosystem.
  • Broad technical knowledge spanning cloud platforms, identity and access management, networking, endpoint management, cybersecurity, and resilience solutions.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with practical delivery and implementation.
  • Experience with cybersecurity technologies, including IAM, PAM, EDR/XDR, SIEM, DLP, SASE/SSE, vulnerability management, and cloud security.
  • Ability to develop technical designs, diagrams, implementation plans, and support documentation.
  • Experience working with technology vendors and evaluating solutions.

Desired skills & qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualification in information technology, computer science, engineering, cybersecurity, or a related discipline
  • Ability to to develop technical designs, diagrams, implementation plans, and support documentation.
  • Exposure to PowerShell, Python, CI/CD, and policy-as-code automation.
  • Understanding of Zero Trust, ISO 27001, IT service management (ITSM), technology risk management, and secure solution delivery.
